Make Up Review :Make Up Academy's Professional Heaven & Earth Eye Palette .

Hello guys, it's been a while since I have posted a blog post so here is a quick update on what I have been up to. I have started Post 16 college (Sixth Form) which I think is the same as Senior Year in American schools however, college is not compulsory meaning you can choose whether you want to do it or not. In post 16 education you study A-levels, these A-levels results is what Universities and future employee's look at I am so far really enjoying sixth form, I am taking  Photography, Art, Geography and Science for my A-levels. I've meet so great new people. I also prefer A-levels to Gcses because everyone in your class actually want to be there and actually want to study so less people are destructive and just damn right annoying in class.

So today I am going to do a review on Make Up Academy's Professional Heaven & Earth Eye Palette. I've been using the palette for about a month now and I have been loving it. I brought it because I needed some decent natural brown eye shadows that I could wear to college.

Pro's

This palette contains 12 beautiful earth tone shades. I really recommend this palette as is nice and cheap, you can purchase it from Superdrug in the UK for £4, it is also a great dupe or alternative to the Urban Decay's Naked Palette's as it has very similar colours but for almost a tenth of the price. The eye shadows are highly pigmented, easy to blend and leaves little fall out when you apply it to the lid under the eyes. The palette contains a good mix of light and dark shadows. Though I mainly use this palette for my every day make up because the tones are so natural but because they contain shimmery pigments you could create a more glamorous look, you could also use it to create a more smokey look by using the darker brown shades.

Con's

Even though I do really love this palette it does have some flaws. I would recommend that you use a good eye shadow primer or base (I swap between Make Up Academy's Professional Primer and
Rimmel Fix & Protect Pro Primer) so the eye shadow stays on longer and doesn't crease. The packaging can be a little flimsy, though mine is still in a good condition, even thought I continuously drop, it I have read other reviews that say their palettes lids have snapped off.

Conclusion.

I would give this product a rating of 8/10 as I a very good product for its price. I would defiantly recommend it as a dupe to the Urban Decay's Naked palette. The product is affordable and is good for those you haven't got money to splash out on makeup. I been using the product nearly every day for a month and I still have plenty of it left, so as far as I can tell the product lasts a long time and even when it does run out I am planning to re-purchase it.

I am planning to do more reviews about the make-up products I use in the future. Please comment below if there is anything you would like me to review.

So this has been,

Review :The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones

Since the announcement that City Of Bones was being made into a film I have been patiently waiting to watch it.

The Mortal Instruments is one of my favorite series that I have ever read. Its up in the top ten with Lauren Kate's Fallen, Maggie Stiefvater's The Wolves of Mercy Falls, Pittacus Lore's Lorien Legacies AND of course The Hunger Games and Harry Potter.

I was very afraid that I would dislike the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments much alike I disliked The Hunger Games film. The Hunger Games pissed me off to no end due to the weird shaky action shots, the lack of the dead tributes eyes in the mutts (which I thought was one of the most important bit because it showed how sadistic and cruel the game makers were), there was no Madge and the fact the ending was cut so we were unable to see Peeta's reaction when he found out that Katniss' "feelings" were all "pretend" (Actually I don't think it was very apparent in the film she was faking it at all.)

However, I personally think that The Mortal Instruments stuck to the book perfectly though of course a couple of minor scenes were left out. The were only 3 major differences I noticed were non existence of Church the cat,  the fact the Valentine was too young and did not have white hair (but after watching a interview with the direction and the actor I understood why they did it and I think it was actually very clever of them) AND finally, the only thing that really really irritated me was that Simon did not turn into a rat. I thought the fact Simon turned into a rodent was so funny and we were unable to hear several of Jace's witty comments because of the lack of this humorous event. However, I understand that maybe the scene wasn't necessary and that they were trying to make the film a little more serious to keep the momentum of the search of Clary's mother and the mortal cup.

I think that the film may be hard to keep up with if you didn't know what was happening, so I would recommend to read the book before hand. Actually, you should read the book no matter what because the books are ALWAYS better then the film with the exception of Breaking Dawn where I thought the film was better due to the kick ass battle scene shown at the end from Alice's vision.

I was over the moon with the actors cast for the film. Lily Collins is the perfect Clary and we all know how much I adore Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace as discussed in my previous blog entry. Though I did not think that Godfrey Gao had enough glitter on, a little more glitter on Magnus Bane in the next film because he is so fabulous.

My favorite scene is the Green House scene as I am a soppy git. I actually cried because it was just as I imagined it as I read the books, correction, it was better then I imagined. I thought Jace's smile mid kiss was the cutest that has ever graced earth.

I am going to sign off now before my head explodes from over fan girling.

So this has been ...

and that is all for today.

Reasons I Love Jamie Campbell Bower

The highly awaited screen adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City Of  Bones hits the big screens tomorrow. My darling friends and I are all set to see it, we got a table booked for dinner and everything.

I am a massive fan of the books and I confess I did dress up as a shadow hunter for a good month after I read them. Thank you to my dear friend Rachael for feeding my obsession, letting me borrow her books and for introducing me to them.

One thing I was really worried about when I heard the books were being made into a film was, like most fans, was that they wouldn't get the cast right. Luckily, I think the cast is spot on perfection, Jamie Campbell Bower in particular.

That is what I am going to be writing about today. I want to break down the top 5 reasons I love Jamie Campbell Bower and why I think he is the most perfect Jace Wayland/ Lightwood/ Herondale/Morgenstren...

#5 Much a-like Jennifer Lawrence, Jamie makes the most derpiest faces.

I think he is so extraordinarily cute. I really appreciate when a actor, or any "celebrity", can really goof of and be themselves. It shows how down to earth they are. I also adore Jamie's quirkiness and sassiness.

#4 He sings.

I am 100% in love with his voice. And his song. And his face. There is something about a man with a guitar that makes my heart beat. I didn't think Jamie could get more perfect but when I found his song Better Man
his perfection levels rose. His other song Waiting is also extraordinary. Just imagine Jace singing Clary... how perfect would that be ?

#3 I adore the fact he wears the Morgenstren Ring everywhere.

The fact that he wears the ring everywhere kinda shows how much of a fan he is of the books as well. I think it would be a fan-girls biggest dream to play there favourite character in a movie. I would die if I ever got the chance.

#2 His Smile.

Jamie Campbell Bower has one of the most sweetest smiles I have ever seen. One of those smiles that could light up a room. Is it just me or when you are looking at a picture of Jamie smiling do you catch your self grinning back at the picture ?

And do not get me started on when he bites his lip ! It just makes a girl swoon.

#1 Jamie is so Hilarious.

There is something about Jamie that just makes me giggle. He is so extraordinarily funny and quirky. I think Jamie's outstanding sense of humor makes him the ideal Jace because Jace is also very funny, very sarcastic but also has this seriousness and darkness that I think Jamie will capture gorgeously.

So I know many people will be thinking how very very sad I am for making this entry to my blog but my dears I don't care. I figured this is the perfect way to celebrate the film's opening tomorrow and I am glad I got a chance to fangirl on my own in my room (like usual) while writing this.

So this once again has been ...

Review: Paper Towns

I have read many books in my nearly 17 years of being alive, though I love nearly every book I have ever read, very few books have actually made me stop and think about the way I live my life. Among  these few books are Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and Paper Towns by the brilliant John Green.

It is Paper Towns that wish to talk about today.

"I spy with my little eye a great story"

If I was to have a dinner party I would most defiantly invite Mr John Green.

Lets start with book summary:

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life–dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge–he follows.
After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues–and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees of the girl he thought he knew.

END OF SUMMARY.

My Rating (1-10): 8.5

My love for this book is a extreme one. It is full of memorable beautiful quotes and has characters that are easy to relate to. Even Margo Roth Spiegelman supposedly a enigma has qualities very much alike my own. Margo has this strange sadness though she seemingly has everything that makes her become such a mystery, I think this makes her relatable because though we may live a happy life us ourselves may not be happy. Let's face it, no one is ever 100% happy and content with themselves, we always strive for the next best thing and when we get it there is something new that we want just beyond our reaches, we are never happy with what we have.

" A paper town for a paper girl… The truth is that whenever I went up to the top of the SunTrust Building—including the last time with you— I didn't really look down and think about how everything was made of paper. I looked down and thought about how I was made of paper. I was the flimsy-foldable person, not everyone else."
Alike many of us, Margo felt alone in the world. An outsider. A misfit who would never fit in.

And Quentin Jacobsen, is the most drastic opposite to Margo as possible. "Q" is a plainly average guy, he is not a popular but he is also not a loser. He more or less just exists. He is a narrative voice of the book. John Green's masterful humor shines through Q making every page a pleasure to read. But it is not just Mr Green's humor that shines through his amazing words of wisdom do to. His words so perfect they literally make my heart ache.

Among the many heart warming and tear jerking quotes are,

“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.”
A phrase used by Q about Margo. It reminds me to never look at someone as better then me or to have to high a expectation of someone as the reality can be disappointing and your impossible expectation could be equally impossible to achieve.  Q came to realize this too as he says ;

“The fundamental mistake I had always made - and that she had, in fairness, always led me to make - was this: Margo was not a miracle. She was not an adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl.”
Another quote;

"Once the vessel cracks open, the end becomes inevitable...But there is all this time between when the cracks start to open up and when we finally fall apart. And it's only in that time that we can see each other, because we see out of ourselves through our cracks and into others through theirs."

Is yet another message from the wise John Green. I would decipher this to mean that we only start to see once another when our weaknesses start showing. Like the walls we build to defend ourselves from others start to fall down and we can finally be the person we are hiding behind the walls.

And it was these quotes above, among others, that made me change my perspective on life. This book has taught me that if you want to get to know someone you really need to care about them. Its only when you care enough to start to notice their weaknesses in their walls that you can tear them down and see them for who they really are. And it's taught me that though someone may seem so superior to me that we are all the same, we are all just human beings, no one is a heavenly figure and we should not stand them on pedestals. (This also means that no one is "out of your league" so Ian Somerhalder... I'm coming for you!)

Thank you for taking your time to read my blog.

Please tell me if there are any other books you would want me to review.
